What is MELUG Mid-Coast?

MELUG Mid-Coast is a subdivision of the MainE Linux User Group. It's a group of Linux hobbyists and enthusiasts in the vicinity of the Mid-Coast Maine area. Our members share interests in Linux and free or low-cost implementations of open source and free software.

MELUG Mid-Coast meetings are now combined with MELUG-Central. See the MELUG-Central site for the meeting schedule. Meetings are either technical presentations, product demonstrations, or general question and answer sessions. All meetings are free and open to the public. Come Join Us!

We are able to get meeting space at the Belfast Free Library upon request. Members may arrange to meet in Belfast, if desired. To request a meeting in Belfast use the Mid-Coast Google Group.

We have not had a call for meeting from the Mid-Coast group in over a year. Meanwhile, I have continued to attend the meetings of the Central group. They usually have meetings every month from September to May. Last summer they came to Belfast and we had a meeting/cookout at the Belfast City Park. We are planning to continue this tradition and meet at the park in July and August.

Although we have not had meetings here in the Mid-Coast, there are still quite a few Linux users out there in the community. I continue to volunteer at the PCS for Maine project here at Belfast and I see frequently see Linux users
turning up there fairly often. I occasionally get support requests from people I meet there and emails from LUG members. I am always happy to help a fellow Linux user out or at least try to point the way to a solution.

I know that there are still a few Ubuntu users out there in the area. You will be pleased to know, if you are not already aware, that the next version of Ubuntu is due out 5 days from now. Many of you will be happy to know that it will be a Long Term Support edition and will be supported for 5 years.
