We had an open discussion session. There were several demos of new distros and projects that we were all working on at the moment. One quick demo was the installation of one of the images from Turnkey Linux , a virtual appliance library. The library is a collection of over 45 ready images that make setting up a Linux appliance as easy as downloading an iso or a prebuilt virtual machine.

For demonstration purposes the File Server Appliance ISO image was downloaded and installed in a VirtualBox virtual machine.

We discussed a now popular alternative to Live CDs, namely USB Flash Drives. USB Flash Drives first became popular as a replacement for a Linux CD when 1GB drives beame affordable. Now that 4GB drives are readily available for the same price, what is really needed is a way to combine several CDs onto one USB drive.
